¿Se acuerdan de cuando Marc Jacobs era feo, gordito y bastante teto? ¿De aquellos tiempos en que en Louis Vuitton le pedían usar zapatos en lugar de tenis? ¿De cuando él usaba lentes de aumento enormes antes de que eso fuera cool?
¿No se acuerdan? Bueno, entonces no saben que Marc no siempre fue el guapo sabroso que es ahora o seguro tienen como 13 años.
De repente me siento vieja. Como en la mañana que escuché que el Elephant de The White Stripes tiene 10 años que salió. Depresión total. Pero eso es como para otro post.

Suddenly I feel old. Like this morning when I heard that the Elephant by The White Stripes is now 10 years old. Total depression. But that is for another post.

My favs at Paris

Ya todos saben que hay un goth dentro de mí y ese goth AMA a Ann. Esta temporada nos trae largos tops, transparencias, pantalones cortos y por supuesto botas patea-traseros.

You all know there is a goth inside me and that goth definitely LOVES Ann. This season as usual she brings long tops, transparencies, cuffed trousers and of course kick-ass combat boots.

Die Frau Ohne Schatten

El domingo pasado fue la última función de la ópera de Strauss "Die Frau Ohne Schatten" (La Mujer sin Sombra) en el Palacio de Bellas Artes aquí en la Ciudad de México,
He andado TAN cansada desde que empezaron los ensayos y luego las únicas 4 funciones que ésta última me ha dejado un sabor extraño, un poco triste porque ya se ha terminado pero un poco feliz porque finalmente puedo dormir de nuevo como la gente decente (el que las funciones terminen a las 11 en jueves y martes no está tan padre ¿saben?)

Last Sunday was the last performance of the Strauss opera "Die Frau Ohne Schatten" (The woman without shadow) at the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Palace) here in Mexico City.

I've been SO tired since the rehearsals and then the only 4 performances that I have the strangest sensation for this last performance. Something like feeling sad 'cause now it's over, but also happy 'cause I'll be able to sleep again (performance ending at 11 p.m. on tuesday is not so cool, you know?).

Halloween

Ojalá hubiera ido a muchas fiestas y usado miles de disfraces, pero no lo hice. De cualquier manera, mi cumpleaños fue el sábado pasado y fui a una fiesta con algunos amigos. ¿Qué me puse? Bueno, aquí les muestro, junto con los atuendos de dos de mis amigas.

I wish I'd gone to many parties and wear a thousand costumes, but I didn't. Anyway, last saturday was my birthday and I went to a party with some friends. What did I wear? Well, here you'll see my outfit and the ones of two of my friends.

Milan Fashion Week

No es un secreto que me gusta la ropa de hombre, es lo que hago y me encanta :) (esa es la razón detrás de la existencia de MxDandy). Así que realmente me emociona la semana de la moda de Milán, y hoy vi los desfiles que se transmitieron en vivo y, cual si estuviera en primera fila (cosa que nunca va a pasar) hice mis notas y bocetos rápidos en mi sketchbook. Les muestrao las de Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce&Gabbana y Burberry Prorsum. Así que deneme algunos Sharpies y estaré feliz.

It's not a secret I really REALLY love menswear, that's what I do and that's what I love to do :) (that's the reason behind the existence of MxDandy). So I'm very excited for the ongoing fashion week at Milan, and today I watched the fashion shows boradcasted live and as if I were on front row, (which will never happen) I took my  notes and fast sketches on my sketchbook. This ones are from Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce&Gabbana and Burberry Prorsum. So give me some Sharpies and I'll be happy.

Ermenegildo Zegna
Escuchando la música compuesta por Shigeru Umebayashi para "In the mood for love" vimos bastantes modelos asiáticos, cosa que nunca había visto en ningún desfile no-asiático. El color empezó con el borgoña para moverse al marrón, gris y finalmente al borgoña de nuevo. Me encantaron las pequeñas bolsas de piel que colgaban de los cinturones, los cuales fueron el acento perfecto para las cinturas de los modelos sobre cardigans, blazers y abrigos. El final con varios modelos caminando lado a lado comenzando con 2 hasta 8, fue encantador mientras volvió la música del mismo filme de Wong Kar Wai haciéndome sentir en el humor para amar toda la colección.

Listening to Shigeru Umebayashi's music for "In the mood of love" there were a lot of asian models! I hadn't seen that many in a non-asian fashion show. The collection flew from burgundy colour to brown, grey and finally burgundy again. Loved the little leather bags hanging from the belts, which were the perfect accent at the models' waists over cardigans, blazers and coats. The finale with plenty of models walking together starting 2 of them untill 8 was just charming while the finishing music from the same Wong Kar Wai movie made me feel the mood for love the entire collection.

Dolce&Gabbana
Con un soundtrack de rock la pasarela se llenó de rayas, tirantes, camisas en capas en gama de grises y de repente un chico vistiendo un traje rojo. Ese pop rojo fue encantador, y cuando los detalles de terciopelo comenzaron a aparecer y caminó el modelo vestido con el traje de terciopelo rojo estaba yo más que embobada. La única cosa que me hizo sonreír más fue el final con todos los modelos vistiendo camisas blancas, corbatas de moño, blazers de terciopelo y jeans. La cómoda elegancia en su máxima expresión.

Rocking the soundtrack the refined grey colours filled the catwalks whith stripes, suspenders, layered shirts and suddenly a guy in a red suit. That pop of red was charming and when the velvet details began to appear and the model in a red velvet suit walked I was more than enchanted. The only thing that made me smile more was the finale with the models wearing white shirts, bow ties, velvet blazers and jeans. Elegant comfort at the higher point.

Burberry Prorsum
El desfile comienza con músca retro y el sonido y la vista de lluvia, entonces los modelos salen vistiendo abrigos de limpias líneas, pea jackets, chaquetas capitonadas, detalles en piel, pantalones sencillos y lindos tenis; todo junto forma una colección relajada, cómoda e incluso feliz. ¿La mejor parte? Las chaquetas transparentes en el gran final cuando, créelo o no, comienza a llover.

With a retro-feeling music the fashion show starts with the sound and view of rain, then the models come out and wear coats of clean lines, pea jackets, puffa jackets, leather details, simple trousers and pretty sneakers, all together are a very relaxed, comfortable and even happy collection. The best part? Transparent raincoats at the grand finale with, believe it or not, actual rain.
Did I say today that I love-and-admire-beyond-limits Christopher Bailey?
