Antes de que todo mundo empiece a hablar sin parar de The Great Gatsby y cómo es la más más mejor novela estadounidense pero (por supuesto) jamás la han leído y sólo lo hacen porque el filme de Lurhman está a punto (finalmente) de salir (así como todo mundo era súper fan del punk gracias a la expo del Costume Institute que ni han visto), les voy a compartir LA colección de menswear de este verano que reinará con su inspiración durante todo el otoño/invierno 2013 Y sprimavera 2014 (sí, cuando estén rodeados de copias de fast fashion de esta colección, totalmente pueden citar esta entrada en sus blogs. Van a ver. De nada). Por supuesto, estoy hablando de la colección de The Great Gatsby creada por Brooks Brothers. Y por supuesto, siendo la geek que soy, publicar el lookbook no es suficiente.
Before everyone starts talking nonstop about The Great Gatsby and how this is the best and greatest American novel but (of course) have never read it and it's just because the Lurhman film is about to be (finally) released (just like everyone was a punk fan thanks to the Costume Institute expo but they haven't seen it), I'm going to show you THE menswear collection that from this summer and will reign with is inspiration the whole autumn/winter 2013 AND sprin 2014 (yes, when you be surrounded by fast fashion copies of this collection, you can totally quote me in your own blogs. You'll see. You are welcome). I'm talking about The Great Gatsby collection by Brooks Brothers. And of course, posting the lookbook would not have been enough.
¿Por qué? Bueno, la inspiración realmente ES una de las más grandiosas novelas escritas en el idioma inglés pero también es un importante documento para entender la era del jazz cuando "los edificios eran más altos y las fiestas más grandes", para caer en cuenta de la diferencia entre esta década en que las mujeres usaron faldas "cortas" por primera vez y su pasado con la Primera Guerra Mundial y la Bellle Epoque. Y mi parte favorita; la gente joven en los 20 eran (MUY) similares a nosotros. Creo es justo esa la razón por la cual esta nueva versión en cine va a ser TAN importante y su influencia se va a ver durante un muy BUEN tiempo (será mucho más importante que Marie Antoinette y sus nunca completados paralelismos entre los youngsters de esa época y nosotros).
Pero bueno, dejemos el blahblahblah y empecemos a ver cosas bonitas.
Why? Well, the inspiration actually IS one of the greatest novels written in english laguage but also is a most important document to understand the jazz age when "the buildings were taller and the parties were bigger", to get the difference between the decade when women wore "short" skirts for the first time and their past with the WWI, and the Gilded Age. And my favourite part: young people at the 1920's were (SO MUCH) similar to us. I believe that's the very reason why this new version is going to be SO important nowadays and its influence is going to be here for a LONG time (much more important than Marie Antoinette and the never-finished paralelisms between those youngsters and us).
But now let's stop the blahblahblah and begin the pretty things watching.
