A estas alturas seguro ya saben que cada temporada tengo altas expectativas de las dos líneas principales de Zegna. Aceptémoslo, soy FAN. Pues el martes pasado me invitaron a la pasarela de Ermenegildo Zegna otoño/invierno 2012 aquí en la Ciudad de México en el Bar Tomate en Polanco. El lugar es bastante bonito y perfecto para una presentación de ropa de caballero con sus colores neutros y paredes de madera.

Al entrar podías ver todo lo que uno querría en semejante evento: un maniquí sentado sobre una mesa vistiendo saco y pantalón de lana, corbata y camisa en patrones miss-matched y champagne. Nice. Classy.

Ya ahí encontré algunos de mis amigos bloggers Gaby, Aldo y Juan (éste último en estado zombie-de-tarea) y compartimos nuestras expectativas de lo que veríamos: la sastrería perfecta. Aldo y yo no estábamos tan seguros de qué nos gusta más: la lana con textura, el Príncipe de Gales o los tuxedos. Yo todavía no puedo elegir.

La pasarela empezó con un desfile de ropa invernal casual: abrigos cortos, punto de cashmere (siempre me da risa escribir "cachemira" así que pocheo), jeans elegantes, chamarras de piel e incluso de camuflaje. Todas las prendas elegantes, usables y modernas que cualquier caballero querría (o necesitaría) en su armario. Y fue mejorando. Comenzó la sastrería. Los trajes formales en telas de lana con textura que me daban ganas de tocas (pero por alguna razón no me pareció una buena idea), mucho gris y los más elegantes tuxedos de fit slim.

¿Quieren saber cuál fue mi look favorito? Sólo miren la ilustración: un traje de príncipe de Gales gris con líneas borgoña, camisa a rayas blanca y morado, corbata de pailey borgoña y (OH POR DIOS AMO esto) pañuelo morado.

Ya todo mundo sabe que mi máxima pasión es el menswear, así que peuden imaginar que feliz me hizo estar rodeada de todos los elegantes hombres asistentes con trajes perfectos: desde el trendy con corbata tejida, el anciano en saco de lana naranja a cuadros, el hipster en blazer negro con bieses blancos o el clásico con calcetines de puntos. Los amo a todos caballeros.

Pero aquí viene la parte triste: tomé fotos de todos ellos pero soy un poco torpe y arruiné TODAS MIS FOTOS. Tal vez soy un poco tonta o tal vez debí haber mandado a checar mi Pentax K1000 ya que nadie la había usado desde el siglo XX. O tal vez ambas opciones.

You might already know that every season I have high expectations on both Zegna main lines. Let's face it, I'm a fan. So last Tuesday I was invited to the Ermenegildo Zegna autumn 2012 catwalk here in Mexico City at the Tomate Bar in Polanco. The place is quite pretty and perfect for a menswear presentation with all the wooden walls and neutral colours.

At the entry there was all one would want in such an event: a mannequin sitting on a table wearing wool jacket and trousers and printed mix-and-match tie and shirt, and champagne. Nice. Classy.

Right there I found some fellow bloggers Gaby, Aldo and Juan (this last one in a homework-zombie state). We had a chat and shared what we expected to see at the catwalk: the perfect tailoring. Aldo and I weren't sure about if we liked more the textured wool, the prince of Wales or the tuxedos. I still can not choose.

The catwalk started with a nice parade of casual winter wear: peacoats, cashmere knitwear, elegant denim jeans, leather jackets and even camouflage jackets. All the elegant and wearable yet trendy garments any gentleman would want (or would need) in his closet. And it gor better. The tailoring started. Formal suits in textured wool fabrics that I wanted to touch (but it was not quite a good idea), lots of grey and the most elegant timeless slim tuxedos.

You wanna know what my favourite look was? Just look at the illustration: it was a grey Prince of Wales suit with burgundy lines, a white and purple stripes shirt, burgundy paisley tie and (OMG I LOVE this) a purple pocket square.

You all know how menswear is my ultimate passion, so you can imagine how happy I was surrounded by all these men in perfect suits: from the trendy one with a knitted tie, the old man in orange checks wool blazer, the hipster in black blazer with white piping to the classic man with polka dots socks. I love you all gentlemen.

But here comes the sad part: I took photos of all of them but I am kind of clumsy and ruined ALL MY PHOTOS! Maybe I am somehow an idiot or maybe I should have checked my Pentax K1000 camera since no one had used it since the 20th century or so. Or may be both.
