Skin Cancer. Yes, that sucks.

Seamos serios una vez. Solo esta vez. Hablemos del cáncer de piel. Sí, eso apesta, pero necesitamos hablar de eso. A lo mejor quiero escribir esto porque he escuchado el programa de radio de Martha Debayle y eso me derritió el cerebro o porque el clima está soleado de nuevo (bueno, a veces) o porque tengo una piel muy delicada-rara-chafa. Cualquiera que sea la razón, aquí voy.
Aquí en México cada año hay 2 mil casos de cáncer en la piel, siendo éste el más común en hombres y el segundo en mujeres, o sea que 1 de cada 3 casos de cáncer son de piel. Amigos míos, esos son muchos casos. Lo bueno es que el 80% de los casos son atendidos en un buen momento y no pasa nada. Lo malo es que si no se hace nada se convierte en un cáncer de los feos-gachos-mal-onda. Esta es la parte donde todos corremos en círculos. La parte buena es que es fácil de prevenir: ve al dermatólogo, usa protector solar y no te asolees no más porque sí. Esta es la parte donde suspiramos aliviados y tal vez comemos un cupcake (porque los cupcakes son deli).
Así que aquí ha unos tips para el protector solar:
-Aplícalo sobre la cara limpia, debajo de tu maquillaje y 30 minutos antes de salir a la calle.
-Retócalo todo el tiempo.
-Usa un FPS 30 o 60 en la playa y mínimo uno 15 en la ciudad.
Ésta entrada es bastante oportuna ya que los laboratorios La Roche-Posay y la Secretaría de Salud se unieron para la campaña "Juntos contra el Cáncer de Piel" y éste domingo 1ro de abril de 9 a.m. a 1 p.m. podemos unirnos a la campaña para un día de revisiones de piel en Reforma a la altura del Ángel de la Independencia.

Let's be serious for once. Just this once. Let's talk about skin cancer. Yes, that ugly stiff sucks, but we need to talk about that. Perhaps I wanna write about this 'cause I've heard Martha Debayle's radio show and that melted my brain or because it's sunny again (well, sometimes) or because of my delicate-weird-odd skin. However the reason, here I go.
Here in Mexico there are every year 2 thousand new skin cancer cases, being this the most common kind of cancer in men and the second in women, meaning that 1 of every 3 cancer cases are skin cancer. My friends, those are a lot of cases. The good part is that the 80% of the cases are attended and nothing else happens. The bad part is that might not happen at all and turn into a bad-ugly-risky cancer. This is when we all run in circles. The good part is that it's very easy to prevent it: go to the dermatologist, wear sun protector and don't stay under the sun just because. This is the part when we all happily sight and perhaps eat a cupcake ('cause cupcakes are delicious).
So, here some tips for the sun protector:
-Put it over the clean face and under the makeup and at least 30 minutes before going outside.
-You have to "retouch" it all the time.
-Wear an SPF 30 or 60 at the beach and at least a 15 in the city.

All this is very appropriate since the La Roche-Posay labs and the Health Secretary joined for the "Juntos contra el Cáncer de Piel" campaign and this sunday april 1 starting 9 a.m. 'till 1 p.m. we all can join them for a day of skin revisions at Reforma near the Ángel de la Independencia.

Después de hacer el tutorial del cinturón de Burberry (haz clic acá si todavía no lo has visto) definitivamente tenía que usarlo en el estilo más clásico y sin temporada: brogues, jeans obscuros y trench. Oh, sí que amo el estilo Burberry y su pieza clave: el trench (o trinchera si vives en España o gabardina en Latinoamérica) (de hecho, todo esto me hace pensar que debería escribir una entrada completa sólo para el trench).

After doing the Burberry bow belt tutorial (clic here if you haven't seen it) I totally had to wear it in the most classic and seasonless style: brogues, dark jeans and trench coat. Oh I really love the Burberry style and their key item: the trench coat (that makes me think I should write a full post only for the trench coat).

Ésta primavera 2012 varios diseñadores incluyeron faldas en sus colecciones masculinas (obviamente los más excéntricos), pero afrontémoslo: éstos looks directo de la pasarela son un poco difíciles de usar.

Today Rafa asked for a tutorial or "how to wear" the man's skirts. And how could I say no? I've wanted to do this for a long time now, so let's get started.
This spring 2012 several designers included skirts in their menswear collections (obviously the eccentric ones), but let's face it: this catwalk looks are pretty hard to wear in real life.

DIY: Burberry Prorsum Bow Belt Tutorial

Éste es mi primer Do-It-Yourself y espero les guste: Les mostraré cómo hacer el hermoso cinturón de moño de la colección de otoño 2012 de Burberry Prorsum.
Todo empezó cuando vi el desfile en livestream y con el primer look me quedé prendada, pues tenía algunas de las cosas que más me gustan: una gabardina, color mostaza, falda a la rodilla y un cinturón.

This is my very first Do-It-Yourself and I hope you like it: I'll show how to do the wonderful bow belt from the autumn 2012 Burberry Prorsum collection.
Everything started when I watched the livestream and with the first look I was hooked, it had some of the things I love the most: a trench, mustard, knee length skirt and a belt.

El mismo cinturón se repitió durante todo el desfile y ésto sólo me hizo quererlo y que me gustara más y más. Y seamos sinceros, no voy a tener libras extra para comprarlo (si las tuviera totalmente lo haría), así que decidí hacerlo yo misma. Y ustedes pueden hacerlo conmigo.

This very same belt was repeated over the collection and it made me love it and want it more and more. And let's be real, I will not have some extra pounds to buy it (if I had I totally would), so I decided I'd do it. And you can do it with me.

"Let me introduce you..." es una nueva etiqueta en el blog en donde les presentaré mis piezas favoritas del guardarropa. No es como que mi closet esté lleno de prendas de diseñador cual si fuera Hanneli Mustaparta o alguien así, pero hay cosas que simplemente amo. Mi amor actual es mi nueva bolsa de plástico neón de Pull & Bear. Entré en la tienda de Madero y ahí estaba, colgando solitaria junto al maniquí, tan rosa y tan plástica y tan grande y tan... ¡yo!
¡Dios! Dudé durante media hora hasta que al fin me decidí a comprarla. Y (como si fuera una rara regla para mis bolsos) es ENORME. De hecho es como una TARDIS: es más grande por dentro. Así que puedo meterle todo lo que quiera y aún así poder cerrar el cierre.

"Let me introduce you..." is a new tag for the blog. Here I'll introduce you to my very favorite pieces in my wardrobe. It's not like my wardrobe is full of designer stuff as if I was Hanneli Mustaparta o someone like that, but there are some things that I just love. Right now it's my new Pull & Bear neon plastic bag. I walked into the Madero store and there it was, hanging lonely next to the mannequin, so pink and so plastic and so big and so.. me!
Jesus! I doubted for about half an hour 'till I decided to buy it. And (as some kind of odd rule for my bags) it's HUGE. Actually it's like a TARDIS: it's bigger in the inside. So I can put in a lot of stuff and still be able close the zipper.
