Save the Date: Vogue Fashion's Night Out

Deberían saber que amo el concepto detrás de la Vogue's Fashion Night Out. Quiero decir, ¿por qué no lo amaría? Es un maravilloso proyecto creado para reactivar la industria y recordar al consumidor que el ir de compras es toda una experiencia. Y podría darles una cátedra sobre la idea de Vogue y el CFDA, o pueden leerlo aquí. :) Jajá, hoy no se los facilitaré (vamos, no sean flojos y den clic clic CLIC).
Bien.
Ésta será la primer Fashion's Night Out en la ciudad de México, habrá cocteles en las tiendas de Inditex, sesiones de fotos, photobooths y las elecciones de editoras de moda de Vogue en las tiendas departamentales, exposición de portadas vintage de Vogue en los centros comerciales, artículos especiales de algunas marcas... es una larga lista, ¿no?

¿Qué van a hacer ustedes esa noche?  Yo aun no lo sé con certeza, no porque no tenga un plan, si no porque tengo tantas expectativas por los eventos que las marcas organizan. Me refiero a que en otros años al rededor del mundo ha habido todo tipo de actividades, desde fiestas en Burberry (se dice que ellos siempre hacen las mejores fiestas) hasta ver "Breakfast at Tiffany's" en la tienda de Carolina Herrera.

Mi plan es éste (y por supuesto que pueden unírseme si quieren): andaré en bici en Masaryk y checaré cada tienda que esté llena de gente interesante y después iré a Antara. Y he aquí la parte divertida: ustedes DEBEN vestir su mejor y más personal look porque habrá fotógrafos de Vogue (podrían aparecer en la revista!) y yo los estaré viendo a ustedes y a mis favoritos les tomaré una foto rápida y les daré mi tarjeta porque los dibujaré y al mejor le regalaré el original de su ilustración (yo NUNCA doy mis originales, pero lo haré en el nombre de la FNO, así que ésto no es poca cosa, ¿eh?).
Finalmente les dejo un video (e ilustración) de la FNO en Londres el año pasado: es George Craig de One Night Only vistiendo (obvio) Burberry al cantar "Chemistry" (AMO esa canción) y va caminando a la tienda.
Como sea, la pregunta sigue siendo: ¿Qué pasará el 8 de septiembre? No lo sé, pero es seguro que será divertido.

You should know I love the concept behind the Vogue's Fashion's Night Out. I mean, why not? It's a marvelous project for the reactivation of the fashion industry reminding the costumer that shopping is an experience. And I could tell you all about it or you could read it here. :) Haha, not an easy post today, huh? (come on! don't be lazy and clic clic CLIC).
Well.
This is gonna be the first FNO in Mexico City, there will be cocktails and DJs at the Inditex stores, fashion shoots and photobooths at departamental stores, vintage Vogue covers exhibitions at malls, Vogue's fashion editor's choices at the departamental stores, special items form some brands... long list, isn't it?
What are you gonna do that night? I don't know yet, not because I don't a plan, but because I'm so expectant for the events the brands are gonna throw. I mean other years all around the world there have been all kinds of activities, since parties hosted by Burberry (people say that they always throw the best parties) to watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" at the Carolina Herrera store.
My plan is this (and of course you can join me if you want): I'll ride my bike to Masaryk and check out every store I find with enough people interesting and after that I'll go to Antara. And here is the fun part: You MUST be wearing your very best and personal look because the will be Vogue photographers and I'll be checking on you and I'll take photos and give my card to my favorite ones 'cause I'll draw your looks and the very best one will have his/her original drawing. (I NEVER give my originals so this is a big thing, huh?).
Finally I leave you with a video (and an illustration) from last year's FNO in London: it's George Craig from One Night Only wearing (obviously) Burberry as he sings "Chemistry" (loooooove this song) and walks to the store.
Anyway, the question is: What will happen on September the 8th? I don't know, but it shall be fun.

Red is the Colour

Esta semana estuvo de locos y hace tanto tiempo que no he hecho un collage que me dieron ganas. Aparentemente todo esta semana ha sido rojo ¿quieren saber por qué? Bueno, sigan leyendo.

This week have been kind of crazy and it has been so long since I've made a collage that I felt like doing it. Apparently everything this week have been red. Do you wanna know why? Well, keep reading.

1. Quiero que sepan que solía querer ser arquitecto gracias al maravilloso trabajo de Legorreta y ésta semana justo acabo de pasar frente a uno de sus edificios que es de mis favoritos.
I wanna let you know that I used to want to be an architect thanks to the marvelous work of Legorreta and I just happened to walk in front of one of his buildings that is one of my favorites.


2. Recibí un mail de Kenzo (marca que por cierto ¡acaba de abrir su blog!), les hablaré de eso después. Esa bici estaba frente a una pared cubierta de flores en Madrid para el perfume Flower by Kenzo.
 I received a mail from Kenzo (brand that just opened a new blog!), and I'll talk about it latter. This bike was in front of a wall covered with flowers in Madrid for the Flower by Kenzo perfume.

3. ¿He dicho hoy que QUIERO unos Keds rojos?

4. Ayer escuché a María Alejandres en el concierto de la OSM tocando la 8va Sinfonía de Mahler y fue impactante. Difícilmente tengo adjetivos para esa voz. Pero tegno muchos para su vestido atrapado-en-el-año-2000. Esta foto es Lucia di Lamemoor.
Yesterday I hard María Alejandres at the concert of the Mahler's 8th Symphony by the OSM and she was stunning. I hardly have adjetives for that voice. But I have plenty for her dress stuck-in-the-year-2000. In this photo she's Lucia di Lamemoor.

5. AMO ese reloj de Swatch. Y me gusta mas cuando lo traigo puesto. Ups, había dicho que les contaría luego sobre los regalos del brunch.
LOVE this Swatch. And I like it the better when I wear it. Oops, I had said I would tell you latter about the brunch's presents.

6. Este mes terminó la exhibición de McQueen en el MET de Nueva York. Es tan deprimente que no la vi. Esta bolsa no estaba en el museo pero está disponible en net-a-porter.
This month ended the McQueen Exhibit at the MET in NY. So depressed I didn't go. This bag was not at the museum but it's available at net-a-porter.

7. Hoy me enteré que la Compañía Nacional de Ópera presentará Madame Butterfly de Puccini, definitivamente una de mis óperas favoritas. El still es de la producción de la Metropolitan Opera House dirigida por Minghella en el 2006.
Just hard today that the National Opera Company will perform Puccini's Madama Butterfly, definitely one of my favorite operas. This shot is from the Minghella's production for the Metropolitan Opera House in 2006.

¡¡¡Ya seeeeeee!!! ¿Hace cuánto fue ésto? ¡Lo siento tanto! Es que no podía dibujarlo todo y después de que lo dibujé no podía escanearlo y cuando lo escaneé ¡no podía postearlo! Es que he andado muy floja ocupada.
Como sea.
Déjenme contarles sobre el encantador brunch que Belén de Privalia organizó para los bloggers. La mera idea era linda así que ahora imaginen mimosas, crépes y Perrier en mesas decoradas con rosas, con gente linda y muchas sonrisas en la terraza de las oficinas de Privalia. Encantador es la palabra.
Tomé algunas fotos horrorosas experimentales que no les mostraré y que funcionaron como mis notas (porque fui muy lista y olvidé mi sketchbook), y después hice algunas ilustraciones para que vean qué tal estuvo. ¡Oh! También nos dieron unas presentes de lo más increíbles, pero es lo pondré en otro post (pronto, LO JURO).
 ¿A poco no hubieran querido ir?

Let me tell you about the charming brunch that Belén from Privalia made for us bloggers. The mere idea was nice, now imagine mimosas, crépes and Perrier on tables decorated with roses, nice people and lots of smiles on the terrace of the Privalia headquarters. Charming is the word.
I took some aweful experimental photos that I will not show you, cause they're like notes to me (since I forgot my sketchbook) and I did some illustrations for you. Oh! Also they gave us the mos awesome presents, but I'll tell you about 'em in another post (soon, I SWEAR IT).
 Don't tell me you don't wish you were there.

Ya sé que no he posteado nada en siglos! Pero, entiéndanme, he estado cosiendo mi colección para graduarme y bueno... aún no acabo. Como sea, ahorita ha disminuido mi cantidad de cosas a coser, y como en todo el día no he podido dejar de pensar y cantar en ésta canción hice uns ilustración con toda esa onda francesa de "Where do you go to my lovely" del cantante de los 60 Peter Sarstedt.

Yes, I know I haven't post anything in ages! But, please understand, I have been sewing my graduation collection and well... I haven't finished yet. Anyway, all this work is a little less, and since I haven't stopped thinking and singing this song all day long I made an illustration with all the french inspiration of "Where do you go to my lovely" by 60's singer Peter Sarstedt.

The shoe room

Tengo algo con Tomas Bernhard. Su prosa es tan obsesiva, extraña, circular y carente de signos de puntuación que es cansado leer. Casi grotesco. Pero al mismo tiempo es tan personal y fascinante que no puedo evitar seguir leyendo. Aunque me detengo por una semana porque me da tantas cosas en qué pensar... justo como éste libro sobre su pre adolescencia en Salzburgo, "Die Ursache" (El Origen). Tiene pensamientos compulsivos sobre el suicidio, la música y la horrible educación que tuvo (primero nazi y al terminar la segunda guerra mundial, católica). Es muy extraño. Y muy incómodo. Y muy difícil de olvidar. El libro se divide en dos partes; la primera con él a la edad de 13 años estudiando y viviendo en Salzburgo nazi; la segunda parte es sobre su vida en la misma ciudad al acabar la guerra y su internado se vuelve católico.
La inspiración de hoy es una escena de la primer parte, en la que el chico tiene clases particulares de violín y estudia en el internado en una habitación que llaman "la habitación de los zapatos", donde trata de tocar como su maestro le ha indicado, per siempre termina pensando sobre el suicidio y tocando la manera más apasionada.

I've got an issue with Thomas Bernhard. His writting is so obsessive, strange, circular and lacks of punctiation signs that is tiring to read. Almost gross. But at the same time it's so personal and fascinating that I cannot help keep on reading. Although I stop reading for a week 'cause it gives me so many thing to think about... just like this book about his early teen years in as a student in Salzburg, "Die Ursache" (The Origin). There is this compulsive thoughts about suicide, music and the awful education (first Nazi and after the WWII, catholic) he had. It's deeply strange. And deeply uncomfortable. And deeply unforgettable. The book is divided in two parts: the first about him at age 13 living and studying in a nazi Salzburg; and the second about his live in the same city when the war is over and his pension turns catholic.
Today's inspiration is a scene from the first part, the kid has particular violin lessons and he studies in the pension in a room called "the shoes room" where he tries to play as his teacher tells him, but he always ends thinking about suicide and playing in the most passionate way.
